Sarah Plane

Community Engagement Data Specialist

Sarah grew up in Idaho with fond memories of exploring the outdoors at Redfish Lake, the Tetons, Bear Lake, the Sawtooths, and Lake Cocolalla. Since graduating from Boise High School, Sarah and her husband have traveled and moved around the world, exploring the outdoors in each new place. She received her Master’s in Linguistics from the University of Sydney, Australia, after conducting fieldwork in southern China. Her background in applied research has served her in various roles, from academia to healthcare architecture.

Sarah joined ICL in 2023 as part of our Salmon Mobilization Team and is now our Community Engagement Data Specialist, where she leverages data to strengthen public involvement in conservation issues and support policy change.

When she’s not out on the water—sailing, kayaking, or paddleboarding—you can find Sarah making pottery and stained glass, nerding out about orca bioacoustics, and spending time with her husband and two golden retrievers.
